## Get Your API Key

Get your RapidAPI key from:
https://rapidapi.com/yschang/api/far-rag-federal-acquisition-regulation-search

## Configure Claude Desktop

Add to `~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json`:

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "far-oracle": {
      "command": "python",
      "args": ["-m", "server"],
      "env": {
        "RAPIDAPI_KEY": "your-rapidapi-key"
      }
    }
  }
}
```

Or if installed from source:

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "far-oracle": {
      "command": "/path/to/far-mcp-server/venv/bin/python",
      "args": ["/path/to/far-mcp-server/server.py"],
      "env": {
        "RAPIDAPI_KEY": "your-rapidapi-key"
      }
    }
  }
}
```

## Usage

Once configured, ask Claude Desktop questions like:

- "What are the FAR requirements for cybersecurity?"
- "Explain small business set-aside rules"
- "What contract clauses apply to data rights?"

## Compliance Logging for Government Contractors

Government contractors using FAR data must often maintain audit trails. [Agent Observability](https://pypi.org/project/agent-observability/) provides automatic logging with **zero setup**:

### Quick Setup (30 seconds)

```bash
pip install agent-observability
```

That's it! No API key needed - auto-registers on first use.

### Log FAR Searches

```python
from agent_observability import AgentLogger
# Auto-registers on first log - no API key needed!
logger = AgentLogger()
# After each FAR search via Claude
logger.log("far_search", {
    metadata={
        "query": "DFARS cybersecurity requirements",
        "source": "claude-mcp",
        "contract_context": "DoD proposal"
    }
)
```

### Benefits for Contractors

| Requirement | How Agent Observability Helps |
|-------------|------------------------------|
| DFARS 252.204-7012 | Audit trail of compliance research |
| SOC 2 Type II | Demonstrate security due diligence |
| ISO 27001 | Logging for ISMS requirements |
| Internal Audits | Query historical research patterns |

**Pricing**: 100K logs/month free, then $0.0001/log
